VETRO FLUENTE

with Marly Stefens and Marc Barreda

curated by Orseola Barozzi

Amsterdam's creativity meets the design of Venetian glass, giving birth to our new exhibition.

Our project - a unique collaboration by Netherland-based artists Marly Stefens and Marc Barreda - is a homage to the two cities, both landmarks in European history for their roles in culture, trading, education and open doors to the East – flowing, but not dividing nor separating.  We celebrate them by depicting flowers, vases, beautiful exotic fabrics and fine glassworks.

Representing and mirroring the flowing identities of the two great cities that live on water, Venice and Amsterdam, the Vetro Fluente exhibit is an exciting screen panelled combination of glass with metal that divides but not separates.

A teaming of glass craftsmanship also reminding us of Jacomo Paquetti who settled in The Netherlands in 1558 and who became the only official supplier of Façon de Venise outside Italy involving teams of glassmakers from Murano.
